How do i add additional ftp users to my siteYour Domain Control Panel will let you add additional users instantly. Users can ftp into your site and/or receive mail. When you create a new user they automatically a member of your group on the server. Because they share the same group as you, you can allow them to access and edit files within certain sections on your site. New users can be controlled in two ways. First, they can be limited to a certain directory within your site. Do this by setting a Directory home for them in your Domain Control Panel. Users can only see/edit files inside their home directory folder. Second, you can limit/allow the user write privleges by setting the permissions on the user's home folder. This way your new user can only upload to a specific folder if needed. To change this option, set the permissions on the user's home folder.
Here's how to add a user with your Gigfoot Domain Control Panel:
- Login to your Domain Control Panel
- Click on the User's link in the top menu.
- Choose the "Create New User" link
- Set the new user's Username, and set their password.
- Set the Top Directory to a existing folder in your site you want to limit this user too.
- All that's left is setting the permissions on the folder you gave them access to. Your new user can add/edit files to this top folder if you enable "Group" write privleges. Do this in InternetExplorer FTP by right clicking the folder and choosing Properties. In the properties panel check the Group - Write permission box. This is the only box you need to check, the rest are already set for you correctly. (NOTE, do not check EVERY box! Just the one that says Group - Write)
